Painting a room in a house is an activity that takes place once in a life time. By the time a person decides to do this, the walls would be in a terrible state. To give the room that new look, painting is normally done. Before embarking on paining a room, protecting the things that are inside is essential. Finding covers would be the first thing to do. Covering chairs, beds, cabinets and other furniture is important as it keeps paint from dripping on it. Before covering, move the furniture to the center of the room since a person will literally be all over the place once they start painting.

It is also important to remove everything from the floor. This includes carpets and mats. When this is done, move to the walls. Any wall hangings should be brought down. The bulbs should also be removed and placed in a safe place. Any wainscot at the bottom of the walls can be covered using plastic paper since it is normally different in color from the rest of the room.

Lastly, cover the floor with paper to avoid splattering paint all over the floor as this will create ugly patches. Having taken all these precautions, a person would now be free to start painting.
